Which way should you go: Stock or Mod?? Well which ever you chose to ride is mostly you presonal disison. Mods are almost better than stocks in preaty much every sercomestances but I ride stock. Mod copetions are mre difficult becaue you can really do bigger stuff on a mod, generaly. I ride a stock because when I stared trials Mod really wasnt an option where I live, Unless I had the big bucks needed to mail order a one.
Here are some pros and cons of the two:
  1. STOCK
    1. PROS
      1. -Stocks have larger wheels than mods so you can roll over things much easier
      2. -Its easier to do peadalkick moves on wierd toped objects because of the bigger wheels
      3. -They are much better for getting to destinations then Mods assuming you have seat and some what of a high gear somewhere in your range
    2. CONS:
      1. -Stocks are bigger than mods so you have less stand over clearence which can be pain full if ya land on your top tube, which has not happened to me cause like on "most" stock bikes the top tube is slanted dowward
      2. -more room to band you knees on the top tube(which is typical if you bye shine pads with out knee pads you never hit your shins, just your knees)
      3. -Less room to do stuff like hopping, side hoping and absorbing big drops. Which really hasn't hapened to me
      4. -More parts to reck and have to replace. You'll read all over that you'll be smaking you deralue derailleurs all over the palce, but if your carefull you should be ok, it hasn't happened to me (yet) and Ive been riding for about 2-3 mounths, but the real problem is a gear sliping at a crusal moment in a move!!
      5. -The wheels are bigger and esaier to bend then a good mod wheel which are basicly bomb proof. If your wheels are properly built and mantained they should be just fine (unless you land the wrong way)
  2. MOD
    1. PROS
      1. -lots of stand over clearence
      2. -esaier manrverability (most of the time)
      3. -less parts to break
      4. -super strong wheels
      5. -you can side hop both ways without worying about you rear mech
    2. CONS
      1. -Harder doing wheels base moves
      2. -easiers to endo
      3. -Hard to get parts for them
      4. -Cant roll over things as good as on a stock
      5. -Not good for rideing long distances
      6. -People will ask you why you dont have pegs and a gyro, they think its a bmx, such ignorance, eh?
